About baby tracker apps

They answer the questions that come up constantly in the first months: when the last feed was, how long the baby has been awake, whether the diaper count looks right. They suit new parents, partners splitting night shifts and caregivers handing over without a long explanation, as well as parents of a premature baby or following a feeding plan. Some stay deliberately simple; others add pumping logs, medicine reminders, growth curves and printable summaries for pediatric visits. They also differ in how much detail each entry asks for, whether several phones can share one baby's data and how readable the screen is in the middle of the night.

What to look for

  • Check how a feeding is recorded, since some apps count minutes at the breast while others want separate left and right timers or bottle amounts, and the wrong fit means extra taps at every feed.
  • Look at how multiple caregivers share one baby's log, because a parent and a sitter entering data on separate phones need the entries to merge rather than sit apart.
  • See whether the app can export or print a summary, which is what you will want to bring to a pediatric appointment instead of scrolling through a phone.
  • Decide whether you want a free app supported by ads or a paid one, since an advertisement appearing during a night feed is a real cost even when the app is free.

How we rank

Apps are ranked by their Google Play rating (weighted by how many people rated them), their number of installs, how recently they were updated and how closely they fit the category. Only apps we've reviewed are included.
