About trucker apps

Between them, they let a single phone replace several devices and paper logs. Owner-operators, company drivers and small fleet managers are the main users. Some focus on truck-safe navigation, while others specialize in tax reporting or load matching through load boards and carrier tools. They differ in map accuracy for large vehicles, how fresh the fuel price and weigh station data is, and whether load boards require a paid subscription or charge per contact. A general car navigation app can send a truck down a road it cannot use, which is why truck routing is its own category.

What to look for

  • Check that the routing engine uses truck-specific restrictions such as height, weight, and hazmat, because a car route can send you into a low clearance or a banned road.
  • Look at how weigh station and scale alerts are sourced, since outdated reports may cause unnecessary stops or missed open scales.
  • For fuel discount apps, see whether the listed prices are current and whether the discount applies at the pump or requires a separate loyalty card.
  • Consider how the app earns revenue, such as paid load board access, per-contact fees, or ads, because that affects whether you get full features without paying.
  • Verify offline map support if you drive through areas with weak signal, as losing navigation mid-route can delay a delivery.

How we rank

Apps are ranked by their Google Play rating (weighted by how many people rated them), their number of installs, how recently they were updated and how closely they fit the category. Only apps we've reviewed are included.
