They also hold the room and show the total cost before you commit.
What to look for
- Check whether the displayed rate includes taxes and resort or service fees, since the amount charged at the property can be higher than the price shown during search.
- Look at the cancellation window and any prepayment rule, because a nonrefundable rate saves money only if your plans do not change.
- See how the app earns revenue, such as commission from the hotel or sponsored placement in results, since that can influence which properties appear at the top of a search.
- Confirm that the map and neighborhood details match the actual address, as a pin placed in the wrong area can put you far from where you want to be.
- Check whether confirmations and loyalty details are stored offline, which helps at check-in when the signal is weak or data is unavailable.
