3D Fish Tank Live Wallpaper

Review by eFreeware

Live Wallpapers and Emoji Keyboard Themes offers 3D Fish Tank Live Wallpaper as a free Android personalization app. It puts animated underwater scenes on your home screen and extends the same aquatic styling to your keyboard and call screen. For anyone who wants a phone that feels themed from top to bottom rather than just a new background image, that combination is the main reason to consider it.

The scale is hard to ignore: more than 10 million installs and a 4.5 average across 228,967 ratings. The app was released in September 2018 and was last updated in September 2026, so it has had a long run and is still being refreshed. It is free to download, supported by ads, and there are no in-app purchases to weigh.

What follows is a look at what the app sets out to do, how the pieces fit together, and who is likely to get the most from it.

Animated aquariums that respond to touch

The core of the app is a set of live wallpapers built around a 3D fish tank. Koi, betta fish and other species swim through the scene, and the developer describes the effect as a true-to-life underwater environment. Rather than a static photo of a tank, you get movement behind your icons all day.

The interactive part is the water ripple effect. Touching the screen sends ripples across the wallpaper, which turns the background into something you can poke at when the mood takes you. It is a small thing, but it is the difference between a wallpaper you set once and forget and one you notice.

The catalog around that centerpiece is broad. There are 4K wallpapers alongside animated and live options, with themes such as fish tank scenes, koi ponds and nemo-style artwork. If you like the idea of an aquarium but want to change the look every few weeks, the range gives you room to do that without leaving the app.

Keyboard and call screen themes that match the water

Personalization here is not limited to the home screen. The app includes keyboard themes, among them a 3D fish keyboard, gif keyboard options and an emoji keyboard, so the typing experience can carry the same visual style as the wallpaper behind it. The developer's pitch is that the keyboard and background are meant to match.

Call screens get similar treatment. Call screen options cover 3D themes, a flash effect and color styles. Incoming calls then arrive with more visual character than the default screen.

This is where the app is broader than a simple wallpaper pack. Someone who only wants a moving background can ignore the keyboard and call features entirely, but they are there for anyone who wants the whole phone to feel consistent. The developer says everything in the app, wallpapers and themes alike, is free to use.

Free to download, with ads along the way

The app costs nothing to install and the developer states that its wallpapers and themes are free. There are no in-app purchases, so nothing inside the app is gated behind a payment. The trade-off is advertising: the app contains ads, which is the usual arrangement for a free personalization tool at this scale.

That model shapes what to expect. You are not paying for individual tanks or keyboard skins, and you are not choosing between a free tier and a paid one. In exchange, ads are part of the experience, and how much they bother you will depend on how often you are inside the app browsing for new looks.

The content rating is Teen, which is worth a glance if the phone belongs to a younger user.

Setting it up and living with it

You pick a wallpaper or theme from the collection and apply it to the home screen, the keyboard or the call screen. Each piece is chosen separately, so you can apply an aquarium background without touching your keyboard, or theme the keyboard and leave everything else alone.

The app is built to run smoothly on Android devices despite the 3D visuals and touch effects. That is a claim rather than a guarantee, but it is the right thing for a live wallpaper to aim at, since an animated background runs whenever your home screen is visible.

Updates are the other part of living with it. New wallpapers and themes are added regularly, so the collection keeps growing rather than staying fixed at what shipped at release. If you like changing your look often, that matters more than any single wallpaper.

Who gets the most from an animated tank

This app fits people who treat their phone as a display case. If you enjoy seasonal or mood-based changes to your home screen, and you like the idea of the keyboard and call screen following the same theme, the breadth here is the appeal. The aquarium angle gives it a calm, consistent subject rather than a random pile of images.

It also suits anyone who wants that look without paying for it. Free wallpapers, free keyboard themes and free call screen themes under one roof is a simple proposition, and the install numbers suggest plenty of people have taken it up.

If you prefer a plain, static background and a keyboard that looks like a keyboard, the animated approach and the extra theming will not add much to your day. The app is built around visual movement and matching styles, and that is the experience it delivers.

A themed phone for aquarium fans

3D Fish Tank Live Wallpaper does one job well and stretches it across several surfaces: an animated aquarium on your home screen, ripples when you touch it, and matching keyboard and call screen themes if you want them. It is free, it carries ads, and it has no in-app purchases, which keeps the decision simple.

The strongest case for installing it is the combination of movement, touch interaction and range. Between koi ponds, betta fish, nemo-style scenes and 4K options, there is enough variety to keep the look fresh, and more is added over time. The 4.5 average from a large pool of ratings suggests the formula has worked for a lot of users.

I would point it at anyone who wants their phone to feel like a small aquarium and does not mind ads in exchange for a free app. If you are happy with a still background and a neutral keyboard, there is little here that will change how your phone feels.
