Prepware Airframe FAA Tests

Review by eFreeware

Prepware Airframe FAA Tests is a study and test-preparation app for the FAA airframe knowledge exam, published by Aviation Supplies & Academics. This app is the mobile version of that material for one specific rating. If you are working toward your airframe certificate and need a way to drill questions between shop sessions, this is the kind of tool built for exactly that.

The pitch is straightforward: questions, answers and explanations presented in flashcard form, plus a practice test that mimics the real exam. That combination is the main reason to consider it. You get the repetition of a flashcard deck and the pacing of a timed-style test in one purchase.

Flashcards with explanations, not just answers

The core of the app is the flashcard review. Each question comes with its answer and an explanation, which matters more than it sounds. In written test prep, knowing that the answer is B is far less useful than understanding why B is correct and why the other options are not. The explanation is what turns a memorization session into actual learning.

You can study by subject, which is the feature I would lean on first. Working through one topic at a time lets you find the areas where you are consistently shaky before you start mixing everything together. The developer has also updated the questions, answers and explanations to match current test information, which is the part of any prep product that ages fastest.

A practice test that follows the real format

The second half of the offering is the practice test, described as true to the form of the actual exam. That means a run through the material in the same shape you will meet it on test day. For anyone who has ever done well on practice questions and then frozen up, that format familiarity is worth paying for.

Switching between the two modes is the sensible way to use the app. Study by subject until your weak areas stop being weak, then take full practice tests to check whether the knowledge holds up when the questions come at you in exam order. The two features feed each other.

What it costs and what it asks of you

The app costs $4.99 as a one-time purchase. There are no ads and no in-app purchases, so there is no second decision to make after you buy. For a test-prep tool you will use for weeks and then set aside, that is a clean arrangement.

This is preparation material for the FAA airframe knowledge exam specifically, not a general aviation reference or a ground school.

The install base is modest by mainstream app standards, over 50,000, and the average rating sits at 4.2 from 472 ratings. That is a reasonable signal for a niche paid study tool, and it is the kind of number you expect from an app serving one certificate rather than a broad audience.

A focused pick for airframe written test prep

If you are actively preparing for the airframe knowledge exam and want question practice with explanations plus a full-length practice test in one place, this is a sensible $4.99 to spend. The subject-by-subject mode gives you a way to target weak areas instead of rereading everything.

The app has been on the Play Store since 2011. For a study tool, staying current is most of the battle.

I would treat it as a supplement to your training rather than a replacement for it. Used that way, and aimed at the airframe written specifically, it does the job it was built for.
