Most workplace admin lives in places you are not: a browser on a shared computer, a kiosk near the break room, a printed stub in a drawer. When you want to check whether a timesheet was approved, confirm a pay date or request a day off, the answer usually waits until you are back at a desk. Paycor Mobile is built to move that work onto the phone you already carry.

The app comes from Paycor, Inc., the HR and payroll company, and it is free to download. It is built for employees of Paycor's clients.

This is an access layer for records and requests that already exist in your employer's system, not a service you sign up for on your own. If your company uses Paycor, the app is a way to reach your own information without hunting for a computer.

What you can reach once you sign in

The core of the app is your own employment record. You can look at current and previous pay stubs and your W-2s, and you can send those documents onward by text or email or print them as PDFs. That last part is easy to overlook until you need it: a lender, a landlord or a tax preparer asks for proof of income, and a PDF you can produce from the phone is a good deal less annoying than a trip to the office printer.

Time and attendance sit alongside the pay records. You can punch in and out, look at the hours on your time card, report a punch you missed and fill out a timesheet. Depending on how your employer has things set up, you may also accept a time card or timesheet and request time off. A calendar shows your work schedule, upcoming pay dates and approved time off in one place, which is the sort of thing that saves a phone call to a supervisor.

Around that core the app carries a wider set of HR functions: a company directory, benefits, tasks and notifications, company learning, company news, scheduling, chat, recognition, and a documents area. Paycor Engage is also part of the package, and it is meant to give managers and staff a shared space for communication and information. How much of this you see depends on your employer, and that is the theme of the whole app.

Pay, money tools and the wallet

Two features go beyond record-keeping and touch your actual money. OnDemand Pay, which the developer also calls earned wage access, lets you reach up to half of the wages you have already earned before payday. For someone facing an unexpected bill in the middle of a pay period, that is a meaningfully different option from waiting it out or borrowing.

The second is the Paycor Visa Card. When you set up direct deposit to it, the developer says you can be paid up to two days sooner. A wallet section holds financial wellness tools, from budgeting to savings goals. I would treat the card and the early access as conveniences tied to how your employer has configured payroll rather than as reasons to choose an employer, but for someone already paid through Paycor they are useful additions.

Both features are the kind that a company switches on rather than something you can enable for yourself. That is worth keeping in mind if you download the app expecting to see them and find they are not there.

Tools for supervisors and approvers

The app is not only for the people being paid. Managers and administrators get a parallel set of tools: approving time off requests, approving workflows, acknowledging exceptions on time cards, adding, editing or deleting punches for employees, approving time cards, and applicant tracking. For a supervisor who is often away from a desk, this is the most useful part, because approvals tend to be the thing that holds everyone else up.

Editing punches on someone else's behalf is a real responsibility, and it is the sort of action that makes more sense on a larger screen where you can see the surrounding context. That said, the alternative for a manager on the move is usually doing nothing until tomorrow, which is worse for the employee waiting on a correction.

The two roles share one sign-in and one app, so the same download serves an hourly employee checking a stub and a manager clearing a queue of requests. What each person sees is set by their employer's configuration.

Getting in, and what the app asks of you

Access depends on credentials you already have. Your usual Paycor credentials get you in, and fingerprint login is supported so you are not typing them every time. It also supports push notifications for new pay stubs, time off requests and approvals, tasks and notifications, which is the difference between finding out about a request now and finding out when you next open the app.

The most important caveat is that your company's administrator may have to switch on certain features before they appear. That single sentence explains most of the frustration a new user is likely to run into. Two people at the same company can open the same app and see different things, and no amount of poking around will add a feature your administrator has not turned on.

There is also a practical limit to what a phone screen is good for. Reviewing a benefits summary, reading through company learning material or working in applicant tracking are all tasks that fit more comfortably on a larger display. The app is at its best for short, specific jobs: check the stub, approve the request, fix the punch, request the day off.

The app is free, carries no ads and offers no in-app purchases, so there is no paid tier to weigh and nothing to buy inside it. The interface is available in English and Spanish.

Who this fits, and who it does not

The clearest fit is an employee of a company that already uses Paycor, especially one who is not sitting at a computer during the workday. Shift workers checking hours, anyone who needs a pay stub PDF in a hurry, and people who want to request time off the moment they think of it will get the most out of it. Managers who approve requests and time cards will find the same download covers their side of the work.

The app's focus also sets its edges. It is a companion to an employer's Paycor account, so it is not something you can get value from without an account your employer provides. The feature set shifts with your company's settings, so your experience is partly a reflection of decisions made by an administrator rather than by the developer.

The reception is mixed but substantial: over a million installs and a 3.7 average across more than 33,000 ratings. That is the profile of an app people rely on because they have to, not one they admire. It has been in the store since August 2012, and the most recent update, in October 2026, was a maintenance release covering bug fixes and updates rather than new features.

A practical companion for Paycor workplaces

Paycor Mobile does a specific job well enough to be worth installing: it puts your pay records, your hours and your HR requests within reach of the phone in your pocket, and it gives managers a way to clear approvals without waiting for a desk. The money features, early access to earned wages and the two-day-earlier direct deposit tied to the Paycor Visa Card, add something beyond convenience for people who are paid through Paycor.

The trade-offs are built into what it is. It only works for employees of Paycor's clients, it needs your existing credentials, and what you can see depends on what your company's administrator has enabled. If your employer uses Paycor, download it and sign in with the account you already have; if a feature you expected is missing, the place to ask is your administrator, not the app.

I would recommend it to employees and managers inside Paycor organizations who want payroll and HR tasks off the desktop.

The short verdict

A free, focused companion app for employees and managers at companies that already run payroll through Paycor.

Paycor Mobile: frequently asked questions

Can I use Paycor Mobile if my employer does not use Paycor?

No. The app is designed for employees of Paycor's clients, and you sign in with an existing Paycor username and password.

What can I do with my pay information in the app?

Current and past pay stubs are available, as are W-2s. The app also lets you text, email or print PDF copies of those documents, which is handy when someone asks for proof of income. Your pay dates appear on the calendar as well.

How does OnDemand Pay work?

OnDemand Pay, also called earned wage access, lets you reach up to 50 percent of the wages you have already earned before payday. It is one of the features a company enables through its own setup, so whether you see it depends on your employer. The app also collects budgeting, savings goal and financial guidance resources in a wallet area.

Does the app cost anything or show ads?

Paycor Mobile is free to download, and it carries no ads and no in-app purchases. There is no paid tier to consider inside the app. Your access comes through the Paycor account your employer provides.

Why can I not see a feature that a coworker has?

Your company's administrator may have to switch on certain features before they show up in the app. Two people at the same company can therefore see different sets of tools. If something you expect is missing, your administrator is the person who can turn it on.

  • Free with no ads or in-app purchases
