HCMToGo is a free Android app from Workforce Ready, the developer behind it, and it sits in the Business category. It is a mobile app for human capital management tasks, which means it is not something you sign up for on your own. Your employer has to be running the system and have it configured for mobile access before the app does anything for you.
The main reason to consider it is convenience. Instead of finding a computer and logging into a web portal, you can check your timesheet, request a day off or look at your pay stub from the phone already in your pocket. For anyone whose workday involves shifts, hourly tracking or benefits paperwork, that is a meaningful difference. With more than a million installs and a 3.6 average from over eleven thousand ratings, it has a large user base, though the score suggests opinions are mixed.
Timesheets and time off in your hand
The centerpiece is the timesheet. You can look over your recorded hours and edit them if something is wrong, which matters when a missed punch or a wrong shift code could affect your pay. Two timesheet profiles exist: Start/End (All Days) and Bulk Hours. If your company uses a different setup, the app may not line up with how you normally record time.
Time off runs alongside it. You can submit a request and then check on it later, and you can see how much vacation or sick time you have left before you ask. That last part is useful when you are deciding whether to take a long weekend or save the hours for later.
Benefits, schedules and pay details
Beyond time tracking, the app covers a handful of other HR tasks. You can enroll in benefits during an open period and review the coverage you already have. You can check your work schedule, and if your employer has enabled it, swap shifts with colleagues. Pay information is here too: pay stubs are viewable, and direct deposit details can be managed without a trip to the payroll office.
To Do items are processed through those workflows, so if your company has not set them up, that part of the experience will not function. This is a recurring theme with HCMToGo: nearly every feature depends on how your organization has configured the underlying system, and what one employee can see may differ from what a colleague sees.
What your employer has to set up first
The biggest hurdle is access. An administrator supplies a company shortname, a unique identifier. Without it, you cannot get past the login screen. When you sign in you select your region, enter the shortname, then your company, username and password.
Administrators have their own checklist. Users need permission to access the app through their security profile, and they need to be enabled through the UI Preferences widget in that profile. To Do items also depend on company approval workflows. One more limitation worth noting: Basic Authentication with SSO is not currently supported.
Living with it day to day
Because the app is free with no ads and no in-app purchases, there is nothing to buy inside it. The cost of using it is really the setup effort on your employer's side, and the time it takes to get your credentials and permissions sorted. Once that is done, the app is meant to be a straightforward window into records your company already keeps.
In practice, I would treat HCMToGo as a supplement to, not a replacement for, the desktop system. Checking a balance or approving a request from a phone is convenient; complex edits or benefits comparisons are often easier on a larger screen. The app was released in March 2018 and the most recent update is from October 2026.
If your company uses HCMToGo and has enabled mobile access, installing it is a low-risk way to handle routine HR tasks without hunting for a computer. If your workplace has not adopted the system, or your administrator has not turned on the mobile side, the app will not get you anywhere. The deciding factor is your employer's configuration, not the app itself.
The verdict on HCMToGo
HCMToGo does a specific job well when the conditions are right. It puts timesheets, time off, benefits, schedules and pay information on your phone, and it does so without ads or purchases. The 3.6 rating from over eleven thousand users suggests it is serviceable rather than beloved.
It suits employees and managers at organizations that have enabled mobile access. If that describes your workplace, the app is worth installing for the convenience alone. If your company has not set it up, this is not the app for that.
The short verdict
A handy HR companion for employees whose company has already enabled mobile access.

HCMToGo: frequently asked questions
What can I do in the HCMToGo app?
You can check and edit your timesheets, submit and view time off requests, and see your vacation and sick balances. The app also covers benefits enrollment and review, schedule checking, pay stub viewing and direct deposit management. If your employer enables it, you can swap shifts with colleagues as well.
Why do I need a company shortname to log in?
The shortname is a unique identifier for your organization, and the app requires it before you can sign in. Your company administrator is responsible for providing it to you. Without it, you cannot get past the login screen, so it is worth asking for it before you try.
Does my employer need to do anything before I can use it?
Yes. Mobile use also requires your organization to configure the software. Access is turned on in that profile through the UI Preferences widget.
Does HCMToGo cost anything?
No. The app is free to download, and it contains no ads and no in-app purchases.
Which timesheet profiles does the app support?
