If Hardee's is already part of your routine, the official app is the obvious companion. It's built for people who know what they want from the menu and would rather not queue to say it, and for anyone who buys breakfast, lunch or dinner there often enough that a loyalty scheme starts to matter. The app was released in July 2021 and has kept it updated since.
What you get is a free download that does two jobs at once. It takes your order for pickup, drive thru or delivery, and it tracks Stars for My Rewards members that can be traded for food. Those two halves reinforce each other: the more you order through the app, the faster the rewards accumulate, and the rewards give you a reason to keep the app installed rather than ordering at the counter.
Built for regulars, not first-timers
The app makes most sense for someone with a Hardee's they pass regularly. If that's your situation, the value is straightforward: you order before you arrive, choose a pickup time, and collect Stars on money you were going to spend anyway. Someone who eats there two or three times a month will still build a balance, just more slowly, and the occasional visitor will find the ordering side useful without ever caring much about the rewards.
It's less compelling if you rarely eat fast food or if the nearest location isn't on a route you take. The app is tied to a specific chain, so its usefulness rises and falls with how often that chain fits your week. There's no broader purpose here beyond ordering Hardee's food and being rewarded for it.
The audience is broad in one respect: the menu covers breakfast, burgers, chicken and desserts, so the app serves morning commuters and evening dinners alike. What it doesn't do is try to be a general restaurant discovery tool. You come to it knowing you want Hardee's.
Ordering, customizing and scheduling pickup
The core of the app is the ordering flow. You can place an order for takeout, drive thru or delivery, and the developer describes the food as hand-crafted, with Made from Scratch biscuits and hand-breaded chicken tenders among the highlights. The homescreen keeps your recent orders and favorite items close at hand, which is the part that matters most once you've settled into a usual order. Reordering a regular breakfast shouldn't require rebuilding it from scratch each time.
To see the menu, pick your nearest Hardee's branch first. Each item can be customized before it goes in the bag, so you can adjust a sandwich or a combo to your liking rather than accepting the default build. That level of control is standard for chain apps now, but it's the difference between the app being a shortcut and being a nuisance.
Payment options at checkout include Apple Pay, Google Pay, credit cards and Hardee's gift cards. There is also a pickup time option, and the developer promises the food will still be hot and fresh on arrival. For anyone ordering breakfast on the way to work, that scheduling step is the feature that justifies using the app at all: it turns a stop into a grab.
How the Stars program works
My Rewards is the loyalty layer. Members earn 10 Stars for every dollar spent, whether the order is placed digitally or you scan your Member code at the restaurant when ordering in person. That second path matters, because it means the program isn't restricted to app orders. You can walk in, scan and still collect.
Stars are redeemed against a rotating set of rewards. The developer lists examples at three levels: 150 Stars for a soft drink of any size, any size fries or a hand-breaded chicken tender wrap; 300 Stars for Biscuit 'N' Gravy, a Frisco Breakfast Sandwich or a seasonal biscuit four-pack; and 500 Stars for a Super Biscuit, a Famous Star or five pieces of hand-breaded chicken tenders. The reward lineup changes over time, so the specific items on offer aren't fixed.
Doing the arithmetic, 500 Stars represents $50 of spending, which puts the top-tier rewards in reach for a regular customer over a reasonable stretch but not for someone who visits once in a while. The lower tiers arrive much sooner, and a free fries or drink at 150 Stars is a modest but frequent win. The program rewards consistency more than it rewards any single large order.
Offers, member codes and scanning in store
Beyond Stars, My Rewards members get discounts and promotions that are exclusive to the app. New members are promised something extra on joining, though the developer keeps the details vague, describing it only as a big deal. Either way, the offers are the part of the program that changes most often, so it's worth checking before you order rather than after.
Redeeming is handled in one of two ways. For a mobile order, you add the offer or reward to your bag and it comes off the total at checkout. For an in-person visit, you load the offer onto your Member code and scan it at the restaurant. The latest update adds dine-in: Stars can be collected and rewards or offers used without ordering ahead. Before paying, scan your Member QR code in My Code with the reward or offer you want loaded.
That change closes what used to be the main gap in a scheme like this. A loyalty program that only pays out when you order through the app punishes customers who prefer the counter or the drive thru window. Letting the same code work in both places makes the membership worth holding regardless of how you actually buy your food.
What the app costs
The download is free. Nothing here is gated behind a payment beyond the food itself. You're not paying for the privilege of ordering or for access to the rewards program.
The costs that do exist are the ordinary ones: whatever you spend on your order, and whatever you choose to tip or add. Stars are earned on spending. That's a clean arrangement, and it means there's no reason to hesitate about installing the app to see whether the rewards suit your habits.
How it compares with other ways to order
The alternative most people weigh is a third-party delivery marketplace, which aggregates restaurants rather than serving one chain. Those apps are useful when you want to compare options or order from several places in one session. The Hardee's app is the opposite: narrow by design, but tied directly into the chain's own rewards program and offers, which a general marketplace wouldn't carry in the same form.
The other alternative is simply ordering at the restaurant. That still earns Stars now that the Member code can be scanned before paying, which removes one of the main reasons to bother with an app at all. What the app adds on top is the ability to schedule a pickup time, keep recent orders and favorites handy, and pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay, a card or a gift card without handling cash.
A dedicated delivery service may still make sense if you order from many different restaurants and want one place to manage them. If Hardee's is a regular stop, though, the chain's own app is the more direct route to the food and the rewards. The two aren't mutually exclusive, and there's no penalty for keeping both.
A worthwhile install for Hardee's regulars
The Hardee's app does one thing and does it without friction: it lets you order the chain's food ahead of time and get something back for the money you spend. The Stars program is generous enough at the lower tiers to feel real, and the ability to scan your Member code in person means you're not locked into app ordering.
It suits people who eat at Hardee's often enough to build a Stars balance, especially those who want breakfast or lunch ready at a set time. If you visit rarely, the ordering features still work fine, but the rewards will accumulate slowly and the app will feel like a convenience rather than a habit. For everyone in between, it's a free download with no obvious downside, and the in-store scanning update makes it more useful than it was at launch.
My recommendation is straightforward: if Hardee's is already in your rotation, install it and join My Rewards before your next visit. If it isn't, there's little here to change that.
The short verdict
A free ordering app that pays off for regular Hardee's customers through the Stars rewards program.

Rewards come at three levels. At 150 Stars you can choose a soft drink of any size, any size fries or a hand-breaded chicken tender wrap; at 300 Stars, Biscuit 'N' Gravy, a Frisco Breakfast Sandwich or a seasonal biscuit four-pack; and at 500 Stars, a Super Biscuit, a Famous Star or five pieces of hand-breaded chicken tenders. The selection changes over time.
